Neene Beku

Title : Neene Beku !

Sunil introduced me to this song yesterday. since then, this has been heard almost 30 times back to back.
The song starts with lines of the poem "tanuvu ninnadu" by kuvempu.
tanuvu ninnadu
manavu ninnadu
yenna jeevana dhanavu ninnadu
nanu ninnava yemba hemmeya runave nannadu

i have heard this song by kuvempu sung by ananta swami many times on radio/tv. but, i had always failed to realise the passion hidden in these lines.

the song "neene beku" is probably another version of this famous poem by kuvempu. the lines mean the same. but, the music is mind blowing. worth hearing.

the song "neene beku" is from a kannada movie called"Psycho". Music director is Raghu Dixit and is Indian rock star.

arbit

am cONFUSED!!!
am on the verge of a big transition. from student to professional. i will be a student of this reputed insti for a month or so. my joining there in bangalore is during jan. what a wonderful chance to cope with the transition. but, what do i do for 6 long months ??? and i have numerous plans. but still confused on which path to take, which cam to take, which lens will be better, will i do justice to mother earth by travelling ? ( you see, me will be energy engineer in some time )
lots of questions. searching for answers.
but, one thing is for certain. i want to be a student all my life...not necessarily in an insti, but want to continue on the elaborate preocess of "learning"

Dragon fly

Insects amuse me. give me some curiosity...the system is so so different...wings, compound eyes...
I am very certain that helicopters are inspired by these...

Post 26/11 - A Wednesday

I never thought my appearance, my camera, my bag etc etc. could pose me a problem.

Still remember the day very well. it was 3-dec- 2008. A WEDNESDAY. i had to go to pune on that very day for my project work. like any another day, i also took my camera with me. On my way to pune, I went by Indrani Express, enjoying nature. this journey was just ok. not very eventful. My work got over by 1300 hrs and i was back at pune station by 1330 hrs. my train was at 1500 hrs. the great DECCAN Express. there was time and my fingers were itching for a nice shot. so, went to a corner of a platform and was shooting the tracks, trains etc...

Now for some info on my huliya. i was inblack jeans, brown shoes, a white t-shirt and a blue jeans jacket. i had a beard which was, say, almost 3 weeks old. its not that i dont have time to shave. its just that i like having a beard. on top of that, i had a bag. a normal back pack with my project stuff i.e. some laminates ( metal pieces cut in some prescribed format) !!!

Here are some of the pics i managed to click.

Title : this is what i call Net-working!!!

Title : These are men of honor !!!

By then, an engine was approaching me and i got back to a safe place. since i had a cam, the driver gave me a weird look. the engine was for shunting. i ran behind the engine as am always fantasized by their sight.
Now begins my foolishness. i shot a couple of pics of the shunting process and was busy looking at the engine.
i felt somebody tapping my back. when i turned around, there were two guys from RPF. was sort of shocked to see them.
here is the conversation.
RPF1 (quite sensible guy ) : who are u ?
me : am a traveller.
RPF1 : where r u going ? show me ur ticket.
me : mumbai. i promptly showed him my ticket.
RPF1 : tum to mumbai ke nahi lagte ho.
me : haan ji. me karnatak se hu.
RPF1 : yahan pekya kar rahe ho ?
me : engine ko dekh raha tha ji. accha lagta hai. bachpan se.
RPF2 (very arrogant) : jaise ki tumhe sub kuch samaj me aata hai.
me : i felt this RPF2 was a constable or a sub-ordinate who was trying to prove his seniority.
hhan ji. mujhe yeh sab samaj me aata hai. yeh hi to mera kaam hai.
then RPF1 was surprised.
RPF1 : kahan pe kaam karte ho ???
me : IIT Bombay me padta hu. yeh engines / cars pe meri padhai hoti hai.
RPF1 : show me your i-card.
i promptly showed
RPF1 : dekho, PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT ALLOWED IN RAILWAY PREMISES.
me : sorry sir. mujhe pata nahi tha.

by then, ppl on the platform had formed a big crowed around us. probably they were waiting for RPF to certify me as "terrorist" so that they could trash me.

i was lucky that such a situation did not rise. thanked my stars a million times.

on my way back, i was wondering, how did RPF ppl came to know that i was clicking pics ? it was the "loco pilot " who had seen me clicking pics. then i realised, he might have signalled, wired them or informed them by some means. after 26/11, ppl are cautious. thats a good improvement. but then, i was questioned for clicking pics at station, for staring at the loco, for growing a beard, for carrying a backpack.
where is my freedom??? with these thoughts, reached thane and took a train to kanjurmarg.
usually, i jump off the tracks to get out of the station. but, that evening, like a good kid, i took the foor over bridge. while climbing down the stairs, i tripped on my shoe lace, rolled over 10 steps and had a bad sprain. real bad sprain.

what a wonderful way to end the day!!!

this wednesday will be in my memory. always. for i have displayed the heights of stupidity. :)

Thorny

Title : Dreams are stitched with these...

Remember the song : Yeh hai meri kahani ... ???
i like these particular lines :

ज़िन्दगी है जो जिए जाती है
खून के बूँद पिए जाती है
ख्वाब काटों से सिये जाती है

hope, am clear...

another shot of the same plant. this was displayed at KALADARSHAN, an annual Art Expo held at IITB. its really nice to stay behind people and hear them comment on the pictures. Nice feeling. Some Satisfaction... Some Happiness...

one comment i heard is : this somehow resembles the FIFA trophy. can u guess ???

PS : none of these images are PP d.

Lucky by Chance :)

Title : All set for a "ramp" flight!!!

From left to right : Egret, Cormorant, Pond Heron, Night Heron and the Crow

Powai lake is my fav hang out. And the only possible location for me to do some photography ( if clicking random pics with a digi cam is called photography) .
One morning, some time during monsoon (july-aug) last year, i got up early ( to be read as : movies from night till morning) to do some birding and went to boat-house.
i consider myself very lucky for getting this shot.
5 different birds on a single frame - a rare moment.
It was not a bad idea to miss my morning sleep, after all.
Truly, lucky by chance...

PS : wish to thank Sanji and Harshvardhana for identifying them.

Just Brilliant

This is the nandi at the Kama-Kameshwari Temple entrance. temple is just in front of JSS Hospital, Ramanuja Road, Mysore.
it is worth visiting because its usually you, priest and god.
Temple History - will update as soon as i get back to mysore. i dont remember it well...naah. i dont remember the history at all!
the beauty of the this nandi is -
it has bells (gejje) around its neck. usually, the real bells are made of brass. it has a metallic ball which rolls inside to produce sound. the gejje here is so beautifully sculpted that there is a ball of stone inside the stone bell and is free to roll !!! one can actually put a small stick inside the bell slit and see it !!!
temple also has beautiful sculptures.
Truly a master piece.
Just Brilliant.

first attempt

this is my first attempt to write a blog post. i would say, first attempt on expressing myself in forms of words. i had this blog a/c since 2008 jan. i really dint know what to write. still i do not know. clicking a pic or painting a 600 sq ft poster or cooking a tasty snack would have been a lot more easier. tuning the controller would be a still easier.
but, this is seriously getting tough.
insects and spiders amaze me to the core. so do the spiders, birds, animals and light.

this should be enough for the day1. i would say, night1
